EROTIKOS LOGOS
Eros Born of Chaos is a love letter to the divine experience of longing. The feeling of falling in love with the unknown, with god, with the god-made earth. A dedication to the knowledge that that which we desire will always be entangled with the inability to ever possess or contain it. I am a seeker seeking, I search as an act before the divine, when I am lost I am found. When I experience loss my heart is shattered open and the veil is ripped open. In my grief I experience ecstatic bliss, a brush with the other side.
I see this project as a poem embodied. It integrates movement, moving image, sound, voice, body, the earth, text, performance, installation, ink on the page, on fibers, on the flesh. In 2022 I created several garments, dyed with botanicals and inscribed with poems invoking the aforementioned themes. I staged two performances on the north and south coasts of California, both were filmed and documented, one in which I read my texts off of the wearers of the poem garments and one solo performance in which I interacted with the natural environment of the beach, delivering love letters to the ocean. The experiences were intimate and sensual, they felt like a prayer or a spell.
