“To An Unknown God presents in situ sculptural assemblages that will pull you into a world of devotion, poetics, child-like fantasy, grief and ecstasy. Patrick Dyck’s installation evokes Indonesian spiritual practices, through forms of altar-making. Their practice is cumulative: devotional outpours of love are painted onto textiles and intertwined with shells and stones, decaying organic materials preserved in resin...Both practices form a visual language that might remind you of disused urban landscapes, of a secret garden rusted shut behind a gate, or of the side of the highway where lush wildlife overgrows through asphalt and trash, or of even a bower made from old branches and bright blue plastic bottle caps, all lined up like precious stones just bright enough to catch the eye.”
